In the space of just a few seasons, men’s fashion has gone from a few simple basics – jeans, that go-to pair of slacks, a collared shirt, pullover sweat, and a jacket – to a whole new universe of choices. From the conservative, reliable black suit to gender-bending new shapes for shirts, slacks and skirts (thank you Billy Porter!), men’s fashion has gotten exponentially more complicated. Whether it’s a throwback to the 60s – tailored, skinny tie – or the casual, loose look and feel of today, The Black Suit is a MUST for any man’s wardrobe. Timeless.

PREPPY SWEATERS

Okay guys, you know you’ve got one or two of these stuffed in the back of your closet. Time to break out that old v-neck preppy sweater … they’re BACK!

THE PARKA/SUIT ENSEMBLE

No longer relegated to the struggling college student look, the parka is now elevated to a more sophisticated level of as a companion to the suit.

MONOCHROME

Whether grey, beige or a vivid blue, the monochrome look denotes a quiet confidence.

THE SKIN-BARING SUIT

If it’s good enough for the women, is it good enough for the men? Yes, the shirtless suit has made its way to men’s fashion. True, Shawn Mendes pulled it off on the AMA’s, but should you try this at the holiday office party? Hmmm … no. Save it for the club.

The current trends are cool, but if you’re like me, you don’t stray too far from the basics.

A jacket or coat, a nice, wear-anywhere suit, a couple of shirts, a turtleneck, a few pairs of jeans and slacks, and you’re good to go.

And remember, ankles are IN, so don’t be afraid to show a little skin. Also trending this season -- boots are big– both dressy and more utility-style. For the workday, wing-tipped shoes are the popular look. And what is this season’s accessory? Real Men wear Long Scarves.
